Don Cheadle Replaces Terrence Howard in Iron Man 2

In a surprising bit of news, actor Don Cheadle has replaced Terrence Howard as Jim Rhodes in Iron Man 2. This is a real shame because Howard and Robert Downey, Jr. had some good chemistry together and because the character of Rhodes was set to become War Machine in the sequel.

Apparently, the reason for the re-casting is disagreements over money. Lame.

Cheadle is a great actor and I'm sure he will be good as Rhodes but it's always unfortunate when characters are re-cast for a sequel. Although it can work out just fine (Maggie Gyllenhaal was a thousand times better than Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes in The Dark Knight), it still bothers me to see someone else playing a character that has become well established in the previous film.

I'm sure this will work out but I just wish Howard was sticking around. It's a shame that it all comes down to money. Oh well... at least we will get to see someone as War Machine. That's all I care about.

Everyone knows that War Machine is cooler than Iron Man because he has a giant gun on his shoulder. That's really all it takes to be cooler... a giant gun.
